Hello all! Ive got a 1973 16' Fiber Form that i want to restore. I picked it up a couple years back and its been sitting at my buddys place since then. Ive finally decided its time to do something with it, so i want to start getting it ready for the water.

It has the 'Iron Duke' Chevy 4-banger for motor, which ran fine the last time i hooked it up to the garden hose. But i was hoping that some of you Ifishers new of some good local (i live in aloha) mechanics that are familar with this motor, should i ever need work done to the motor.

Also, the seats are in bad shape. The boat has two sets of the back to back seats that fold out flat. Ive come to the conclusion that it would be cheaper to just buy new seats rather than have them reupholstered(the vinyl and foam are just too shreded to repair).Once again im looking for some input from you guys on where you think would be a good idea to get a set of these seats. Ive got Harveys Marine just up the road from my place, which i havent checked out yet, but plan to.

Thank you very much in advance for any input/help you may provide!:D

You can get the parts on the internet.

The Pontiac 225 liter or 151 ci. is a great I - 4 cyl. powerplant, you shouldn't have any problems with finding parts for this engine ... are you running a propshaft or outdrive on this setup ...

its got the out drive setup

If its an electric shift model ... you might think of upgrading to a linkage shift ... The elec ones can quit working if the seals leak water into the outdrive case ...This can be a big bummer in the middle of the briney...

Also check the wooden parts for dry rot or water saturation ... Transom and stringers ,you can drill small holes and use a moisture meter for testing wood and plug them up with some silicone ...
Good luck with your project ... Barney
