Considering on buying a Mercury 500 Thunderbolt elect. start, Prop. Tiller handle. Early 70's motor. What might be some concerns when looking at the motor? I want to put it on a 1860 sled. I currently have a 1997 60/40 Johnson jet with steering column.

Is the ol Merc a Jet or a prop? If its one of them old jets, it will be way under powered for that boat of yours. Try lookin for a 90/65 or an ol 75/50
