I pulled out a few jars of eggs that were cured this spring and they were much "wetter" than usual. Any ideas on how to dry them up a bit without ruining them?

Make yourself a drying screen. I made mine out of 1x2 wood frame. About 2'x4' in size. Then bought some nylon window screen material, and stapled it on around the wood frame. Lay your eggs out on the screen and let them air dry in the garage until the desired dryness and texture. Them vacuum pack them, or seal in mason jars. That's it!! images/icons/grin.gif

I tried to dry some eggs last week and I over did it. I now have skeins of egg jerky. Is there anyway to soften them back up again?

You have made the perfect bait. Leave them alone and you will catch more fish. Dry them out and less smell will hit the water when you use them.

Sorry expert bobber fisherman. I was in a generous mood when I read this thread. Most of the bobber guides that I now think it is funny how the general public insists on fishing the perfect looking egg when a gooey soft egg is what they like.

After I cure my eggs and dry them then put them into QT jars, they juice down.

If you want dryer eggs, I just put them on a plastic tray and have a drip tray below it to catch excess nectar. The plastic tray is a tray from the plant shop nursery, one that has holes in it. It allows air~~flow .

On really warm days the eggs dry quicker.

On really COLD ~ days the eggs dry slower.

If you want dryer eggs you can roll them in borax and then seal them in vac-pack jars.

Never try and re-cure your eggs. It will ruin your eggs. Instead soak them in your collected egg juice for 10 minutes then re-dry them. Try using a fan to help circulate the air.

Hope this helps.
