Got the boat out this morning to rip a few sturgeon lips:excited: Made the 7-8 mile trip to the launch and noticed a "hot" smell when we got out of the rig. Traced the odor to the trailer and descovered the hubs were abnormally warm as if the brakes were engaged while we were traveling. I have an 07 tricker tandem axel trailer with hydraulic brakes. On the way home we stopped to check the temp on the brakes and they seemed to be fine. Got home and they seemed to be heating up again:passout: Anyone have any issues with the brakes on their Tricker or have any suggestions? The "Tie Down" system at the hitch seems to be sliding back and forth just fine???

I assume they are discs? Was it both sides? Could be a sticky caliper.

Some of the disc brakes have a bad habit of getting hot while towing then you dump them in cold water and they can warp Know of a few that couldn't even pull thier trailers out they were so warped.
Check your bearings for over heating and relub them
I would check the wheel bearings. It doesn't sound like it is a brake problem but a bearing problem.
Good Luck

I have drum brakes and have fought this same thing all year last year. It's not just disk brakes. If drums, you can back off the tentioners on the side that's hot. Check your Actuator to make sure it's functioning properly and not getting stuck in the engaged position.

I also have drum brakes. Gonna be a little paranoid from now on. I plan jacking up one side of the trailer and working the accuator manually to make sure it is working properly:pray:

I had brake issues with my NR boat trailer. A lot of money later I found that the seals in my actuators failed and water had gotten in and rusted the actuators from the inside. Sounds like you're already checking them though. Hope it works out for you.
