Do you guys seal the cork on your rod handles? If so, what is the best product? I assume that Anglers Workshop would have it but is there anywhere closer to Troutdale that might have it? Thanks!

I don't like the "feel" of it, but I believe that there is a U40 branded cork sealer available.
The big box sporting goods stores should have it.
To clean my cork grips I use Windex and an old washcloth (terry).
Get the cloth plenty damp with Windex and use a twisting motion.
Windex works well for the rod portion also, might need an old toothbrush for around the guides.

I use the U-40 brand corkseal on the cork of all my rods. It makes cleaning egg goo off easier and helps to hold the filler in place longer. I don't mind the difference in the feel, but it is something to consider.

I'm in the "don't like the feel of it" group. I have some 40yr old cork handles still doing fine that have never been treated with anything but fish blood and slime :D. Granted they arent my everyday poles either.

:yeahthat:Fish blood and slime. Now that's the way to seal cork handles. Maybe some egg goo also.

When i clean up old cork or new cork I use paste wax on the rod and the cork....makes it easy to keep clean and doen't seem to affect the grip......
even with a big fish pulling on the other end.........:excited:
