View Full Version : fuel tank cleaning
I recently bought a boat that had been sitting for about 6-7 years, everything is finally done that needs to be done except cleaning the fuel tank. There wasn't any fuel in there, what is the best way to clean out the tank (40 gallon aluminum)? I have new hoses and fuel filter to put on when the tank is clean. Thanks in advance!

Biodiesel does a great job of cleaning...anything. A few gallons, mixed around, let it sit, drain, repeat once or twice.

I had the same situation, but their was a little gas left in it and when I ran the boat, the old gas gunk plugged my carbs. I filtered the gas out and took the 45gal tank down to Portland Radiator (I think that was who it was). They have a large dip tank that purged everything out. Worked great!
