I finially downloaded the pics of my new boat. I got it for 399.99 at fishermans and bought the trailer at harbor freight for...i think it was around 239.99. The price was cheaper online than in the store, so they gave me the online price. The trailer was kind of a pain to put toeghter, it completely apart, had to put every part toegther. I put a wood deck on it, then rubber treads for the pontoons to rest on. I have had the boat out a few times to work out the bugs. I had the oar rests adujsted wrong. The motor i bought was a 30"..30lb thrust, but the shaft was to short to work properly, so i took it back and bought the 36" shaft. The motor will push the boat at a pretty good pace. I did have to move the motor mount over so the prop would not hit the pontoon when turned to the side.
(the reason i bought a trailer for the boat was i dont have a pickup at the moment.)
Im pretty happy with the boat so far,, its a far cry from my North River i had, but i am looking forward to some fun fly fishing in it.
I will also be looking for fellow pontooners to hook up with and go fishing with, also would like to do a few floats trips with some guys that have done that before,,probably this summer. I also have access to private waters in the area. So would be fun to fish with some guys that fish pontoons too.

Nice Toon rig! I went for a BottomLine Fishing buddy 1101 portable fish finder, instead of the trolling motor to start. I havent installed it "officially" yet as I need to rig up a lift system that will swivel and lie it flat on a toon while I dont need it. I also put on a rod holder (must have for me) its a metal Down-East d-14 rail mounting holder, bit heavyer than the plastic stuff, but I love the features because it adjusts to about any position. Installed the anchor system, thats nice to have.
That said the trolling motor is next on the list for hitting the lakes! (I do believe you'll need to get that licensed to run with even a trolling motor...seems dumb to me but what can I tell ya, thats why I waited for the trolling motor opting for the fish/depth finder instead)
I sold my driftboat and got a toon, other than not being able to bring the dog with me, it was a good move for way less $$ The toon in rapids is as fun as it gets for me:dance:. In summer its nice too in skinny water as ya just stand and start walking. You'll want a waterproof bag also to put stuff you dont want wet in:wink:. The only other thing I can think of that comes in handy is a wind anchor if your going to hit the lakes much. (super easy to make but they are cheap to buy also.)

I wondered about the registration too, but found this at
http://www.oregon.gov/OSMB/BoatReg/registration.shtml
"All motorboats and sailboats greater than 12 feet that are in use (in the water) must be currently registered. Registration is issued on a two-year calendar basis, with all decals expiring Dec. 31 of the year indicated. There is no retroactive payment for years the boat was not registered and no late fee for registration."

6) “Motorboat” means any boat propelled in whole or in part by machinery, including boats temporarily equipped with detachable motors.
But I still say it's dumb :hoboy: There are a few threads around on this subject.

Sorry, but in Oregon you have to register and license any boat that has a motor...............even your inflatable one person pontoon boat.

Thanks guys for letting me know about the registration thing, i had no idea. Here is what i found on the Marine board site.
Q: Do I need to register my small pontoon boat if it has a motor?A:
Yes. Any watercraft with a motor must be registered with the Marine Board. You will need to title ($30) and register ($3 per foot and each portion of a foot) your motorized float tube or pontoon boat. You can print the Application for Boat Title (http://www.boatoregon.com/OSMB/BoatReg/docs/ApplicationforBoatTitle.pdf) (PDF (http://www.boatoregon.com/OSMB/miscfiles/PDFs.html) - 13k). We need the manufacturer's statement of origin and/or bill of sale. If there is no Hull Identification Number (HIN) on the boat, we will need to assign one. If you want a temporary permit, write call (503) 378-8587 and ask for additional instructions or e-mail your request to marine.board@state.or.us (Marine.Board@state.or.us). Send all paperwork and fees to OSMB, PO Box 14145, Salem, OR 97309.

I had 1 of my toons out last year at herman creek with a trolling motor and was warned by stater that I needed to register. Called marine board and tried to do this and was refused because my toon did not have a serial number. Just to let you know.

Nice Boat
I have 2 of them just like that with the same set up you got. One nice option I did was to add a small fish finder, mounted in the right side cup holder. Minkota makes a transducer mount that fits around the body of the motor and you simply run the wires to the battery. Awesome fishing machine.
I'm always looking for an excuse to take mine out, let me know.

I got a warning from an OSP officer for not having numbers on my 8ft toon a few years ago. had it rigged up with an electric motor and battery. the officer said anything with a motor needs numbers.
A lot of folks just stick numbers to a stiff piece of plastic and attach it to the frame rails when they run their motors.

Nice boat. I have a pretty old one, still in good condition. Still enjoy fishing out of that more than my other boats -- closer to the water, quieter, etc. Have fun and be safe.

What brand and model is your pontoon boat? I might have to have my son pick me up one as he lives in Kelso. Thanks

The Brand is Water Skeeter. They have them at Fishermans...usually are 499.99 but they go on sale alot for 100.00 off.
Ya, Kevin, i talked to a guy that fishes there alot, he said he has caught about 6-7 brooders this year there. Not sure how accurate he is, but said his biggest is around 25lbs...and he had got a few in the 15-17lb range. I would estimate the fish i lost to be around 15lbs or so,,,,going by how it looked when it jumped once...came completely out of the water, and awsome site. I will be going back when i get the time.

I have the same pontoon. If you are going to take this out on fast running rivers, please make sure to check the condition of your oars. The blades are held on by rivets, and I had just put in at the Bull Run on the Sandy when the rivet popped out and I lost the blade. It was a scary scenario.
Better safe than sorry so I now check the condition before ever setting out. A spare oar wouldn't be a bad idea if you are running rough water.
Thats just my 2 cents.:twocents:

Ya i already have a spare oar for it. I will take it with me when i float any rivers with it.
Ayefish...ya the garage is somewhat organized..i just bought that house in october last year, but i still need to either buy some shelves or make some. Thats part of the reason i sold my pick up and new north river. So now im down to the pontoon boat,,but i am having a blast fishing with it!
