Hey,
Picked up this nice steelie yesterday on the Alsea. Water looked pretty nice, but lots of people. Decided to head down river and look what took an egg pattern. Got to break in the new 10ft. 9wt TFO rod. Worked like a charm. Had to horse her a little bit to keep from running down river. Longer rod seemed to do the trick.

Max means "Maxillary". It's the thing-a-ma-doodle that extends past the top corner of the steelheads' mouth.
Fin clips on different river systems with steelhead of various age/orgin commonly have combinations of fin clips to ID the fish.
AD- adipose
ADLP-adipose left pectoral
ADLM-adipose left maxillary
ADLV-adipose left ventral
Of course the "L" could also be an "R" but you get the picture.
Some places even use a caudal clip but I don't think Oregon does.
Hope this made sense...
Nice fish BTW, we don't get chromers out here.....:D

NO, that is not a broodstock fish. It is traditional hatchery stock. (left max clip)
Also, we do not clip any pectoral fins, or ventral fins
Broodstock have a right side max. clip, like this one:
