For those (all) of you who know a lot more about this stuff than I do.
A friend wants an opinion of the G Loomis Streamdance GLX flyrod.
Can someone help?

The GLX series is definetely at the top of the scale.
Since they are expensive, he should really cast it first before buying. Casting is the only way to see if the rod is really for you.

I agree casting one is the only way to know for sure... actually not casting one, but rather many...
i have fished the streamdance a couple times, my buddy owns one. It is a light, responsive rod. I do not like fishing it. It can boom out some big casts, but it is not a pleasure to cast. It lacks sensitivity which is something i really like in my fly rods.
