I built one of their surf blanks (su1418) and that rod can take a beating and keep on ticking. I made a false move by putting on cheapo guides and that was the worst mistake I've ever made. Half of the guides are now fuji hardloy guides. Definitely a great brand of rods at exceptional pricing. Most of their rods have a lifetime warranty, except for a few, which carry a 3 year warranty I believe. Just depends on application.

I do 80% + of my fishing with that rod, steelhead and coho. Broke one early this Fall, highsticking a big coho buck. Luckily I had built a back up last winter so no interuption in fishing. Great rods!

You dont find it to be too long? Do you fish mostly bigger rivers or smaller? Is there a disadvantage to using a longer rod on small streams?

Not too long for smaller rivers I fish. I find as I get older, my rods get longer. Believe it takes less effort to cast or flip with the longer rods.
