Nooknabber...ya need to define a section below Bonneville to fish....there are several other ramps between Chinook & Bonneville...why spend "fishing time boating...If your going out of Chinook you have several locations to target...if you new to the water there and are running a prop..STAY in the Channel until you select a section to fish...I have personally towed 3 guys back with busted OD this year...I would recommend comming out of CL and head up river to the Sandy....the river narrows and the options of methods are wife open to how you may fish...Would recommend anchoring in a line and watch until ya see where and whats going on...Alvins seem to be the "popular" thing..but you odds go up if ya want to target the Silvers and Nook trolling the 15-30' water with plugs and thossing spinners...With the kids may be more enjoyable to target just off the mouth of the Sandy and do spinners...with the fish rolling will keep them focused for atleast 5 min longer...enjoy...I will be in a 22' Open sled off the mouth Sat...be only one in boat...stop by will tell ya what I know..which is not much...

Nooknabber,
If you are going out of Chinook Landing also try Gov't Island. Take a left out of CL and stay to the right of the island. you will see several hoglines at the tip and just below. I usually go about halfway down and anchor up in 20 to 25 feet of water. 4 to 5 ft. of dropper line and 3 ft. of leader. Use Alvins. Green. Caught some nice Chinook in this area. Good Luck.

Thank you Rags,

I will follow your advice, going to replenish
the endless tackle box black hole that seems to occur when I have visitors in town .... will stock up on green!! I came from the
midwest...new to hog lines....what's the
deal, just roll up to line and anchor
up or is there some type of etiquette I should know about????

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

I also saw 5 fish caught in the morning last Saturday anchored at the mouth of the sandy. Silver and blue or solid silver seemed to be the ticket that morn (alvins of course).

I will most likley be out there on Sunday (gona do some trout fishing on northfork Saturday). Here is a link to me boat (just remember, where I am the fish never are):

Say Hi if you are in the area.

Relatively new to the area....fished all
summer at B10..just brought boat
back and have a trip planned for tommorow
on Columbia....Can anyone give me a little
insight on best access to Bonneville. Launch
out of Chinook Landing?? How far is the run
to Bonneville? Holes along the way? Backtroll Qwikfish, anchor Alvins???
Any help would be appreciated, have a full
boat of innercity kids who have never seen/caught a salmon...Sure would like to
show them the fun of fishing!!
