Last weekend I ventured to Seattle and fished Possession sound. Chinook is totally closed up there, but coho and other species are open. I hooked and lost a few coho, one HUGE something that snapped 45 lb dacron in about 8 seconds, and then went for pink (humpback) salmon. We found a place where they were absolutely thick. At one point I counted 9 fish out of the water at the same time. These fish are 5-12 lbs, and they school up tight and jump all day long. We just sat there anchored casting spoons in front of the very visible surfacing schools. ...Nailed one fish after another until 4 limits of 4 were boated over the two days (two hours, more like). Pound for pound, these 'humpies' are by far the best fighing salmon I've ever encountered, and being able to see them racing through the clear calm water is a blast!
Crabbing was also excellent; two traps, six hours, four limits of both large dungeones, and some huge red rock crab as well.
Anyone interested, email me for coordinates and specifics.
