If you could not catch a fish at the Mouth of the Cowlitz today you need a new hobby. The bite was just outstanding today. Did not matter if you were trolling or at anchor everywhere you looked FISH ON!! Also saw a few 18#+ B-run steelhead caught today. Talked with the fish checker he said "yesterday there where more fish than boats". Not a bad time if you like limits. Two people on my boat today 3 nooks and 1 coho. Had about dozen take downs also...Hope everyone gets to enjoy this great fishing..

Fishnxtc, I need a lumpy ocean plan B for Friday. How about some Tech on that fishery for us mere mortals that want to become fishing gods. Anchored or trolled? Which part of what tide. What does the terminal tackle look like?

Is a 16foot driftboat with gas and electric trolling motors big enough to troll the mouth of the Cowlitz? How much grief would I get from wind, tide, other anglers, etc? I love to catch fish, but not at the expense of enjoyment.

bite started just as the tide started to move. The best part was the bite never really stopped. Seemed like most people trolling where using spinners and people at anchor where fishing wobblers. From what I saw did not matter what wobble you had as long as it was in the water. As for 16ft drift boat, seem to be ok. I will never say go ahead try it out. Some people with 22ft sleds never seem to be ok. If you have never been there take a ride down adn check the conditions for yourself. Today I saw 14ft runabout trolling around.....
