Hey Kitch', get a WA license and use that 'RT' plugger rod and backtroll (even foreward troll in slick spots) chrome/chartreuse or Michael Jackson patterned standard sized Wiggle Warts with the extended hook off the belly loop to a treble hook (back one removed) for lots of short striking silvers in the lower NF or Cow. Some new ones trickling in images/icons/wink.gif . Eggs are nice too.

I'd say nix on the Columbia. The bite comes and goes. It's gone more than not.

If you are good at reading water on the move you can sled most of the lower NF Lewis when the flow listed for the Lewis at Ariel is at or above 2500 cfs (it's at 2680 right now). Access http://wwwdwatcm.wr.usgs.gov/rt-cgi/gen_tbl_pg to check Washington river flows. I suggest putting your sled in at the Lewis River Golf Course put-in on the north side of the river. Go right thru the course and on the right short of the clubhouse - good holes just out and up from there. And the Island ramp down river from that is getting tough to sled out of, but is a good take out for driftboats launched up river. The new Happa launch and parking lot is on the south side of the river on a road in just before you get to the meathole launch. Run upstream out of that side channel into the mainstem to fish up or down river. Driftboating this river is easy for experienced rowers. I suggest launching up by the upper end of the hatchery compound on the north side of the river, rather than fight the crowds launching a little lower down on the south side meathole lauch. Ask for launch site directions at the Arco store just right of the northbound freeway exit for Woodland. ...

While Warts and spinners will work on the NF (just not as well as on other rivers) it's best to backtroll/backbounce or boondogg/sidedrift egg clusters for silvers on the NF. If you can stand the cramped up boats very slowly backtrolling the meathole's 30 to 40+ ft. depths for tons of silvers and 'nooks using eggs near bottom, it really puts out more fish than anywhere on the river. When you get fed up with it, which happens fast for me unless the bite is very hot, you can just head on down river to lots of good holes. ... BTW, I did hear that T-Bay is starting to put out some big 'nooks all thru it. Still a ways to the peak yet of coures. Good luck. - RT

Hey RT, or anybody else that knows, I stopped in at the golf course ramp to take a look about a week and a half ago. It looked closed. There were blockades in front of the driveway down there. They are apparently doing construction at there. I don't have a boat, but I'm just curious what's going on there and giving a heads up.
