Since I moved to Portland from Seattle recently, I haven't done much winter fishing in Oregon for years...
1. Olympic peninsula for salmon and winter steelhead. Lots of very good, very productive streams here. Fishing in the Olympic rain forest is almost a spiritual experience at times. The scenery is hard to beat and these rain forest streams are my idea of what winter steelheading is all about. I really like living in Oregon but there is very little in our state that compares to this region, I'm sorry to say.
2. Cook creek on the Quinault reservation for steelhead. This is an experience everyone should try at least once. You can hook into more steelhead in a single day on Cook creek than any other stream in the lower 48 when the run is at its peak. It's a good place to practice technique since there are more fish concentrated in a small stream than any place I've ever fished.
3. Upper Green River (King County) for winter steelhead. This is an absolutely beautiful stretch of water that holds a lot of fish.
4. Lower Green river for silvers, Oct-November. I've got a couple of "secret" spots that are better than anything I've yet to find here in Oregon. During October, I can limit out on almost every trip out. It's hard to beat. Last years fishing was phenomenal and I plan to head up there for a few days as soon as they get a little rain.
5. Skykomish for winter Steelhead. Another great Washington river that gets a lot of fish and is a great scenic experience as well.
6. Fall chinook on the Rogue River
7. Winter Steelhead on the upper Chetco and the upper Rogue.

My favorite spot for lawn mower fishing is right here in my garage...you might try your neighbor's garage...or the guy's down the street, and remember...to release all natives!!

Mine has to be the Columbia River from Dec. to Mar. you can fish for the largest freshwater fish in North America. Sorry not salmonoid.
Hey FM, images/icons/grin.gif to much garage fishing will turn you into this:

I like those choices too. Just a headsup here: If 'Yall posts his top 10 choices and Turkey Ridge Reservoir isn't at the top, then he is being less than forthcoming. images/icons/grin.gif
(P.S. - Mike has been really busy with projects, thus not able to post as much recently. Get back on here more dude. images/icons/wink.gif )

Number one choice for winter steelhead would have to be the "Garbage hole" on the Pudding River. For fall salmon the Gilbert River is also a favorite! I sometimes fish Johnson Creek near Eastmoreland park and also like Rock Creek.

I don't know what is posessing me to give up my 10 top secret spots. Maybe I'm just feeling generous, so here goes:
1 - Big Quilcene river at the hwy. 101 crossing
2 - Blue creek on the Cowlitz (ssshhhh, keep this one to yourself, if you can)
3 - Reiter ponds, Skykomish river
4 - Hoodsport hatchery
5 - Cedar creek (meat hole) Lewis river
6 - Green river/Toutle river confluence
7 - Carbon river (Voight creek)
8 - Stevens creek/Humptulips river confluence
9 - Samish river
10 - Barrier dam (Cowlitz river)
My sincerest apologies to anyone whom I've revealed their "zipperlip" fishing spots. images/icons/smile.gif images/icons/grin.gif

Some folks are still in the black ages !!
Sharing information is what this board is all about, not a personal forum for a few to express their personal biases. Jokes are cool but so is informative info which many read and learn from !!

Imposter Mission2 - you are over-rated both in your own mind and in many others. This will be my last post on this board. It was fun you all. Wasting too much time here anyway. Make sure you respond to all the Julie posts. Perhaps you can give "her" some great lawn mower tips and your Top 10 favorite lawns to mow. images/icons/grin.gif
Of course the over-rated and rub people wrong goes for me too, so I'll just solve my own and the board's problem by removing myself and press on.
