whats the regs, on catching silvers in the columbia? can you keep clipped and non clipped?? also i think its clipped only for chinooks, right.......john

If I am not mistaken, Coho must be clipped. Fall Chinook do not need to be clipped.

Invader it is only fin clipped coho and steelhead in the Columbia. Chinook can be either. The only exception is in the John Day pool where native Silvers can be kept.

That is wrong about the John Day pool. It might be true up the John Day it's self but I don't think so. For sure you have to release unclipped steelhead on the Columbia, even in the John Day Pol. Your best bet is to always refer to ODFW

David not to start an argument, but the regs clearly state that native Silvers can be retained above John Day Dam on the mainstem Columbia. On page 80 of the regulations for the Columbia zone it states, "only fin clipped coho may be retained downstream of the John Day Dam."

I really wish that wasn't true, but ODFW is supposed to know what they are doing, aren't they?
