Headed back up to Paulina for an afternoon of fishing with a new friend of the family. What a difference a week makes. Last week I had trouble getting fish. But Saturday the bite was on. My friend caught 3 nice fish before he had to head home. I stayed and fish until dark and caught my five fish easily. I had to let go some small Kokanee and some that were too old. I also hooked into what I think was a large brown. At first I thought I had hooked the bottom until I realized that I was at 50 feet with the downrigger in 100 feet of water. At that point I felt a good headshake and the hooks pulled free. I was using Apex Kokanee Killers that were green during the day and glow/orange at dusk. The meat becoming marginal, but still tasted good on the BBQ. The fish are still a great fight on light gear.
