I have a few quarts of Salmon/Steelhead eggs in the fridge that I cured in straight Borax.

Any suggestions on adding color and scent for Silver fishing?

I am no expert, but I saw a recipe in STS a few issues back that suggested using strawberry or raspberry JELLO and pure anise.

BTW anyone feel like sharing an official recipe as I seem to have misplaced that issue of STS?

Or if there was a previous thread pointing me to it.

You can color your eggs by adding dry food coloring/color granules. Jello also has sweetners and coloring if you choose to use that solution.
As far as adding scent shake the excess borax off the eggs and add some of your favorite oil/scents to the eggs and allow to sit at least over night. Shake them up so the scent/oil spread amongst clusters. I also recommend doing this in a sealed container unless you like sleeping in your truck.

Hey Jeff,

get some Pro Glo Dye, not the cure but the dye. You can get it at Fishermans. Sprinkle a little on the eggs after you shake off some of the borax, but them in a jar and they will color up.

Don't add the scent/oils until while you fish, that way you don't end up with a whole jar of the same scent.
