I am looking for a recipe to replicate the expensive store-bought stuff. I have googled and found 2 basic kinds. The yellow cake mix-pudding type and the poundcake type.

Both recipes call for the glaze to be poured over it just once. I may be mis-remembering, but isn't there a type that you anoint multiple times (like fruitcake)? I remember a recipe that had cheesecloth wrapped around the cake and it was kept in a tin. Every once in awhile you added more rum. Am I just thinking of fruitcake?

Sounds like fruitcake, Ruth. But I'm certainly no expert!:hoboy:

Did the pudding yellow cake version, turned out nice. Anointing included the Rum and sugar frosting, yummy!

Oh, Ruth! That rum cake you made was delish! I made a double batch, yesterday for gifts, but my dang family went nuts on it! Literally!

Thank you so much for the recipe!
