Ok, let me see if I've got this straight.
Ocean - past three miles out:
Chinook - over 20" - keep 2
Coho - closed
Code - 3
Terminal Area - Jetty then three miles out:
Chinook - over 24" - keep 2
Coho - closed
Code - 97
Bay - Lower & upper to bridges:
Chinook - over 24"
Coho - over 20" - adipose only
Stealhead - over 20" - adipose only
Chum - over 24"
Keep two of the above in aggregate.
Coho Jack - 15" to 20" - adipose only
Other Jack (chinook, etc.) - 15" to 24"
Keep five of the above in aggregate.
Code - 97
First off, how do you tell the difference between a red bouy 24" chinook (code 97) and an upper bay 20" chinook (code 97)?
Secondly, the regs say nothing about how many coho you can keep in the bay. I just put the 'in aggregate' cause it sounds about right. images/icons/confused.gif

HARVESTING CHUM SALMON ILLEGAL: Just checked with the Clackamas Office of ODFW. Regulations in 2001 Sport Fishing Regs., [pp.22], states "Closed to Coho and Chum Salmon unless noted under Special Regulations." (not noted there)....2001 Addendum publication, [pp.11] opens legal takes on adipose fin-clipped Coho, but makes no mention of the Chum Salmon. THEREFORE, THEY TOLD ME, CHUM SALMON REMAINS CLOSED.

After talking with ODFW, here's what I understand the regs to be......
Ocean - past three miles out:
Chinook - over 20" - keep 2
Coho - closed
Chum - closed
Code - 3
Terminal Area - outside of Triangle zone:
Chinook - over 24" - keep 2
Coho - closed
Chum - closed
Code - 97
Lower Bay - Green Hill line west to include Traingle zone:
Chinook - closed
Coho - over 20" - adipose only - keep 2
Stealhead - over 20" - adipose only - keep 2
Chum - closed
Upper Bay - Green Hill line east to bridges:
Chinook - over 24"
Coho - over 20" - adipose only
Keep two of the above in aggregate
Stealhead - over 20" - adipose only - keep 2
Coho Jack - 15" to 20" - adipose only
Chinook Jack - 15" to 24"
Keep five of the above in aggregate
Chum - closed
Sockeye and Pink - over 24" - good luck
Code - 97
The regs say nothing about how many coho you can keep in the bay. I just put the 'in aggregate' cause it sounds right. There's nothing in the REGs or the updated REGs for Tillamook about this. I told the guy at the ODFW info line about this and pointed out were the regs say '2 adult salmon' vs. '2 adult chinook'. If someone knows a gamewarden and can ask them about this, please do. I think it's two in aggregate but when the REGs are the law we go by, the written word HAS TO be specific.

We reviewed the basic regs and the ocean regs. This is our understanding of those regs.
Right now, you can retain two adult salmon (coho over 20"-- chinook over 24") plus five jacks (15" up to adult) inside the tips of T Bay Jetty.
Outside the jetty, don't be caught with any cohos.
Outside the "TERMINAL" (see regulation book) area, you are allowed nothing but two chinooks over 20"-- NO JACKS OR COHOS.
Inside the "TERMINAL" area, you may retain two chinooks over 24" PLUS five jacks, 15"-24".
Inside the tip of the jetties, your five jacks may INclude coho 15-20" or chinooks 15-24".
Simple, huh?
One more thing to consider: You may use barbed hooks inside the "TERMINAL" area, which is about three miles out from the jetty and about three miles North and South.
Outside that area, in the ocean, you must use barbless hooks.

(Guess, just GUESS who wrote this, really?)

Here's more data to add to the confusion!
