The Raymarine is about 300.00 more, but comes with navionics silver card, I would buy the gold card for the Lowrance if I went that way. So taking that into consideration the Raymarine is not too much more, are the silver navionics cards decent? I mainly fish the Sacramento Delta in to the San Francisco Bay on occasion, targeting sturgeon. I have heard a lot of horror stories with the Lowrance, which is why I shifted my attention elsewhere and I don't think a Furuno is in my budget. Please let me know if i'm headed in the right direction.
Edit: Raymarine A60

hello, fortunately or unfortunately when asking advice on electronics you will get varying opinions on electronics. mainly because there are different needs and expectations from electronics. i my opinion the raymarine is a much better investment for the dollar. some basic reasons are raymarine has a rectangular screen that is easier to view in a dual screen display. it has higher clarity in the dsm and is very fast so you don't overrun hazards.
regardless of what system you install now is a good time to install a dsc capable radio, and get a mmsi number this can save your bacon, cause you can't walk home.
the lowrance has its pluses also it uses a backbone network which depending on how carefully it was installed enables engine data to be added. but you really have a small screen to see this. alot of performance issues with the backbone is there is not enough power due the small conductors. add in power along the network. personally i don't believe that your navigation system should be for anything but navigation.
just my two cents.

I've been looking at the 65 for my next boat. Went to Roger's Marine and it was between Furreno and the Raymarine 65. Well, lets just say that the only brochure I have left is the one from Raymarine. As far as the Lowrance,,,I wasn't happy with mine.

I bought the A-65 this year and love it. Good vision from anywhere on the boat. I am very happy with it
