I tried this tonight and have to report - the results were EXCELLENT

Here is my very own Traeger cookie recipe

Chocolate/peanutbutter chip/pecan/almond cookie bars

1/2 Cup Granulated Sugar
1/2 Cup packed brown sugar
1/3 cup margarine or butter, softened
1/3 cup butter flavored shortening
1 egg
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1-1/2 cups all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup chopped pecans
1/4 cup chopped roasted almonds
4 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
4 oz reeses peanut butter chips (can be purchased in bulk at Winco)

preheat Traeger to 375. Mix sugars, margarine, shortening, egg, and vanilla. Mix dry ingredients together and add slowly to the blended "wet" ingredients. spread dough out onto small cookie sheet covered with foil.

Bake 20 minutes or until light brown on top.

Allow to cool at least 5 minutes before cutting/removing from cookie sheet.

Tip: If it's cold outside, you may want to adjust your thermostat to 400 in order to keep temp up. I used apple pellets for this project, but I'm pretty sure you could use about anything. Maple might be good. I'd refrain from onion or garlic, although it could produce interesting results!

YYYUUUUUMMMM!

For some reason I am having a hard time imagining what they would really taste like. I bet they are really good though. Maybe I'll get a taste on Sunday??? Some things just sound good on a Traeger and others are a bit questionable. Pizza for me was questionable until I tried it. Now I'm a Traeger Pizza lover. Cookies? I think I'm gonna have to try it. Thanks for the post.

I thought they were good. Left half a batch sitting on the kitchen counter and sent the other half with Andy to work. Got rave reviews from the shop. When I got home, there was no evidence the cookies ever existed...

I'll try to whip up another batch between now and Sunday. You got my order, I take it?

MMMM! More cooooookies!

Dinner last night was Salmon (sprayed with margarine, then sprinkled with Traeger "salmon shake"), baby red potatoes drizzled in oil, then sprinkled with 'salmon shake', and fresh green beans drizzled in oil and sprinkled with onion, garlic and salt. All prepared on the Traeger, followed by Traeger cookies.

Omigosh, I'm not even hungry, but it makes me want to do it all over again.

One important tip about the cookies - make sure your drip pan is CLEAN (or has been burned off) - leaving pork fat drippings on it is BAD when baking cookies - don't ask me how I know this :hoboy:
