Bank fishing in Vancouver Area?

Hello everyone. I normally fish with my buddy off his boat, but I have some time off and was going to take my little brother out Salmon fishing. I'm not really sure where to go. Where near Vancouver(within 25 miles) can you fish from the bank (WA side) and do you have any pointers for a first time Columbia River bankie? I heard Frenchman's Bar from someone but I'm not too familiar with it. Thank you very much for your help!

Thanks Jack. I stumbled upon this site a week or so ago, and have to say it's by far the most informative and friendly board I've run into. So good I find myself checking it a few times a day. images/icons/smile.gif I was a little surprised too that no one had responded yet. Must not want me to know about their fishing holes. images/icons/wink.gif That's okay though I'll do some exploring and talking and maybe I can find a few spots to take my brother to. Also need tips on how to talk my wife into letting me get a boat. images/icons/grin.gif Thanks again for the help!

That's a good idea Andy, don't think it will work though. Last time I asked she said buy me a house first so I think the stick building kinda outweighs a shiny new car. images/icons/frown.gif I must continue my quest though, there must be a reasonable bribe that can get me in the water quicker. images/icons/smile.gif

You can get to Frenchman's Bar Park by following 4th Plain out of downtown Vancouver. It seems like you're going west, but actually I think it's north. From the 4th Plain exit off INTERSTATE 5 ...Turn left onto 4th Plain and just follow it out past Vancouver Lake...guess it to be about 5 miles or so. Park is on the left after 2-90 degree bends in the road. Costs you 2 bucks to get in, and the park opens at 7 a.m. I have seen fish caught there off the bank too. Good luck. Mark
