Ok, I will have to pull my boat out of Warrenton on Wednesday so the buoy 10 thing is almost over for me. Did pretty well down there but mainly in the ocean.
Now for the second phase of the salmon blitz and thats to the anchor fishing. Something that I have done twice for salmon and not caught anything yet. What sort of tackle are people using? I am familiar with the dropper or back bouncing thing but not sure what lures to use. Since they are rather expensive I would like to buy some that have a decent chance of working.
Thanks and good luck.
Jim

Tryin...Everybody has their favorites...read the Columbia River threads...there's all kinds of suggestions there...depth, dropper length, and lures. Make sure you leave the guy upriver from you an open escape route if they hook a "PIG"...seen to many people drop their anchors about where people's lures in the boat above them are. You'll understand this once you lose a big 'un in someone's anchor line below YOU. You just can't stop some of those big ones. Also remember not to get too close to the folks next to you, as sometimes when you hook up, the fish'll go sideways on you. Good luck!! Mark

Thanks Mark. Appreciate your comments for upriver and major current fishing. It's also a huge safety issue, for the boats anchoring too close behind an established hogline, as well as the boats off the anchor chasing a fish. One rope around the lower unit, turned backwards, and it could be over. Ask if you just don't know. We will help you. images/icons/smile.gif

One more thing..don't be above or below the guy next to you. If you're above...you'll risk losing your fish in someone's anchor line or fishing line. This happened to the guy (BLUE Alumaweld) that was next to me last Saurday. When he parked I told the folks in my boat if he hooked a fish, he'd be in trouble. He did,and got 4 lines tangled with his fish, and lost it. If you anchor below the guy next to you...chances are you'll get YELLED at.
