Folks,
This may have already been discussed, but I couldn't find it (if that's the case). If there's a thread out there someone could point me to, that would be great as well.
Looking for idea of what people would suggest to use for electronics on my drift boat (aluminum). This is for stream that I am floating, when just using the oars (so battery powered would be a spec). And would want something that I could pull in when I get to skinny water.
Ideas?

I used a portable fish finder for many years and it worked great. These units work off of 2 6Volt batteries, and a suction cup mount transducer. It is a good combo for a drift boat.

cabelas sells a portable unit that i picked up last year. Its pretty sweet, uses a small 12 volt rechargeable battery, Eagle Fishmark 320, all in a portable case and with a suction cup transducer that I stick on the side of the boat. It stays put at full throttle, and I haven't knocked if off yet in the water.
I tried the fishing buddy, i didn't like it at all.

Riverteeth, it al depends on how much you want to spend. I think the real question is how to mount the transducer. I have the suction cup for mine and it works great, it stays rock solid and is easy to pull if needed. Aligator clips and a little battery and I go all day.

I have a Lowrance 480, and it works great for me. There is a pretty good selection at Cabelas.

What brand/model do you use?
I don't mind spending some coin if the value is there: I'm a firm believer in paying up front for quality (it pays for itself, in my opinion).

I am running a garmin, not sure of the model. As for the cup, I stumbled across it at sportsmans warehouse.
I'd add a Group 22 and an onboard charger. That would run about anything all day and even handle a small trolling motor. It's convenient to have at least one power outlet to charge a cell phone if required. Of course, that could also run onboard lights.
