Very hard starting,but once you get it going it runs great as long as you are on the throttle.When running @troll speed will die and be very hard to start.Will run good @troll speed for about 45 sec.and will stay running by squeezing the primer ball.Does this sound like a fuel pump issue?or worse?

You might have the answer, the fuel pump is possible but I would chk the carb for dirt in the bowl, it might need to be rebuilt also.

Sounds like the primer ball has a small hole or you have an air leak
in the hose. :twocents::cheers:.
New hose or bulb or tighten up.

Pull the carb apart, clean it up, and it will run fine.

In order of easiest and least expense:

1. Check an air leak INTO the fuel line after the bulb (the fuel pump will be sucking air).

2. Check the diaphragm and check valves in the fuel pump. A hole in the diaphragm will cause a problem like yours.

3. Check the carb bowls for dirt or water.

:agree: Air can be an cuprit:smile:

if onbly running for 45 seconds its either air into fuel stream causing diaprm to loose prime OR a bad pump OR a stuck/ Plugged needle seat..

or bulb.

or bulb.

that would fall into air into fuel stream causing loss of prime... generally if its primer bulb the line can be filled and the motor will run for about 3-5 min... then fail...45 seconds and you have a lack of fuel into the carb issue residing within a few inches of the carb AND also a low fuel level in the carb...

Do you have it hooked up to the water separator on your main fuel tank with your main motor ? If so what happens to Me is if I don't run my main motor first and prime the system the kicker runs out of fuel because the filter has drained back ... I run the main till warmed up and switch to the kicker then and can troll all day with no problems ...If this is not the case go with the new fuel supply hose and orient it with the arrow vertical pointing up ,this will allow the check valve to seat a little easier in the bulb ... Good Luck and Happy New Year ...
