Advice on buying trolling motor

I found a fair buy on a 2005 8hp Merc 4-stroke. I am looking for a trolling motor for my 15-footer and am not familar with this motor. And I know a Yamie would be a better choice but this is a fair buy. So how about anyone's thoughts pro or con on this motor.

The power head on the 8HP Merc is a Yamaha motor. Balance of motor is pretty much merc.

I'd base my decision on availability of parts and service. Is a Yamaha OR Merc dealer near you?
