View Full Version : 6hp Suzuki feedback wanted!

I'm thinking of purchasing a gasser for my clacka 16. The Zuki 6hp looks to be a winner with its integrated fuel tank, 57lb weight,and only costing around $1200! Anyone running that setup or similar? Hows it working out for you? May also spend part time on a 17' thunder jet powerbolt.:cheers:

I bought one last year and have been very happy with it. I don't have it on a drifter but rather a 17 glasply.
The motor has been flawless, it starts with half a pull and runs like a top. One drawback for motors this size is that it has only one cylinder which makes it vibrate more than a two cylinder motor but, I don't think you can find a 6hp two cylinder motor. It is not bad and you can adjust the tension on the steering collar to eliminate any vibration transmitted to the tiller. It may also be a little louder than a two cylinder motor but the weight difference makes up for it for me.
I could not be happier, I had the two stroke version circa 1997 and loved that one as well.

Yamaha has a 6 hp 2 cylinder 4 stroke outboard but it weighs more than the Suzuki. As noted above, all the other 6 hp 4 strokes are 1 cylinder.

Ran one around on a 12ft. Gregor when I worked at the boat shop ... What a sweety ... Just a nice little motor for sure...:twocents: The Suzuki is a good motor too just depends on what ya wantand can afford...
