Ahhhhhh the beauty of 1 foot swells....
We were out at the Boiler at Nehalem jaws today. Just didn't want to deal with the launch ramps.
Anyway, the forecast called for drizzle and clouds. HA! IT was windless, beautiful, sunny, warm and fishy!
I had on a turtle neck and a sweater and was just about tempted to throw it all away! NOT.
I got into a 13 lb Chinook, and Bill
got into a nice silver!
It wasn't hot out there, fish wise, but we did a little better than most.
Saw one boat land 4...

It was a beautiful day on the river though. Don't see the bar so flat calm very often.
Lots of boats out today, a few that didn't know what they were doing... Lots of tangled lines as in all combat fishing with people who are new.
People trolling in the wrong direction, etc. We had to cut someone's line that tangled us, trolling the wrong way.
But for combat fishing, we had a good time and a couple of fish!
YAY!

What a difference two days can make. Fished up at Nehalem, down at Wheeler and out near the jetties. Saw one fish caught up near Nehalem early in the am and heard of another caught out along the jetty. Definitely not much happening Sunday. We threw everything at them (herring, spinners, kwikfish, apex, herring spinners), all but dumped the tackle boxes in the water. 4 rods in the water and not a single take-down. Some days are like that. Sunny day on the water though.

Went down there on Friday, and saw about 3 caught at wheeler just after daylight.

I managed to get a 30#er hen above the 101 bridge and only saw one other one caught up there. I too threw everything in the box at em'. A spinner managed to get a fish for me.

Pretty slow considering the number of boats. It was a beautiful day, and I'm definitly not complaining. I've got the eggs curing right now!!!

If anyone else was down there on friday, I was the guy in a little 14' battleship grey, PT looking fiberglass boat.
