How have you found launching on WA & OR launch sites near the mouth during week days?

The WA ramps are more handy if you are going to go off shore or stay right at 10. They have the same over crowding trouble the OR ramps have on weekends. If you are going to fish up to the bridge on the tide the OR ramps are better and safer in some ways as well. It is a long wet ride going down stream on an incomming tide with a up river wind all the way to the state park or Ilwaco ramp on the WA side in an open slead or a smaller boat. One word of warning though do not use the chinook ramp on the WA side unless you are with someone who has used it before. There is a tricky channell with sand bars to navigate. We used the Chinook ramp for the first time last, what was it, Monday?
There was a couple people putting in still at 10:00.
We did OK, but it is tricky!

Great idea! Does anyone have any tips for launching at Hammond?
Just found a site which I thought could help. Turns out, every link sends you to this guy's e-mail ... TOTALLY USELESS, so I've removed the reference. Sorry.

Launched out of warrenton on thursday at 07:30 in the morn and the line was about 15 boats or so. The total time in line was probably bout 15 minutes. was able to pick up some bait and prep the boat while in line then got to the ramp and all was cool long as you have someone with you who can back up and park the truck and trailer. Not bad at all. Ran outto buoy 2 almost wide open caught our fish and came in. Great day images/icons/grin.gif

I hate crowded boat launches as much as the next guy. Here is an option that works well for me. This option will also for people on the Washington side that would normally travel Hwy 4 from Longview to get to the Chinook/Ilwaco Area.
I like to fish the Chinook/Church Hole/Bridge area. I put in at Cathlamet and run down to the bridge. This works for me because the boat is pretty fast and is not hard on fuel. In normal conditions I can be at the bridge in 45 minutes. If you had a slow boat it may not be an option. It can be a little bumpy coming back in the afternoon if the wind picks up, but normally its not to bad. The longest it has ever taken is 1 hour.
I used to put in at Chinook and putting in was a never a problem. I would put in before daylight. But taking out was a nightmare. I have had to wait over 2 hours to get out. No more.
I hope this option might help others out.
