I'd have to dig through some of my books to get an exact answer, but I do know that upriver brights move upriver much faster than spring fish. There are many variables such as the timing of the run, water temperature, water level, obstacles such as dams and the pools they create etc... It has also been shown that fish move farther at night than during the day, especially when there are low water conditions.
Off the top of my head it seems like I've read that a salmon can go 20 miles a day up the Columbia if it wants to. But, that's from memory and I could be wrong.

I've heard unconfirmed rumors of 20 - 30 miles a day.
Talk to you soon.

The major problem up river tends to be the netting allowed. If you can find a period of time without nets you have a much better change at the upriver fish.
FISHING IS GOOD, BUT CATCHING IS BEST
