Going down this weekend to fish this area for my first time. How have you fishers been doing in the river below the bridge to Ilwaco. I'll be in an older red 21 ft Alumaweld inboard windshield boat.
Also, what is the VHF channel of choice for everyone down there? What about bait, herring or anchovies?
Thanks in advance.
Oops, almost forgot, how long of a run is it from Ilwaco to B-10?

Tanner - It is 7 miles from the bridge to B10 according to my GPS if I remember correctly.
Put the boat bumpers out, strap a herring behind a diver.

It is only a short skip to Buoy 10 from Ilwaco. Take a right out past the A Jetty as you come out of Ilwaco and its right in front of you. I would guess it is less than a mile.

B-10 has been comfortable for most folks the last 2 days. Things are changing. Look at the clouds approaching from the west this evening. Next week we all might reflect and say that the tide and atmosphere where at the very best on the 15th and 16th of August for this run at the mouth. I missed it. This still beats sunfish and walleye fishing in Minnesota at its very best and the season is still young. I LOVE this river.

FEAR NO FISH!

I fished from last Friday till this
afternoon out of Chinook. 15 Kings on,
11 landed, 38 silvers on, 21 landed.
We fished from jetty 1 all the way to
Astoria bridge. Best times were 2.5
hours before high tide. I had the best
luck with anchovies earlier in the
week, then went with herring. 4oz red
and silver Delta Diver. Sometimes used
a red and silver fish flash. 13 pulls-
25 pulls. Had more Chinook on the 13
pulls than any other depth! Biggest
king was 33 pounds. Biggest silver 16
pounds. Hint, try to rent a slip. The
boat ramp is unbelievable early in the
day. Reserve fresh bait each day.
Dozen per person both baits. Truly too
much fun! images/icons/grin.gif
