Just some information on what could have been a rough situation. I was out yesterday (tuesday) with a friend in the wind and moderate swells. We started around the buoy 2 area and hammered the coho, two quick ones then I went 30 pulls with a delta diver and hit another nice size coho, no chinooks on this trip. Well by this time we had drifted alot, oh to the tune of 3 miles or so. The wind and swells were southeast. Actually what had happened when I was heading north the wind and swells were pushing us south, only making it look like we were heading north. So after figuring this out and the fact that we hit a bunch of seaweed and other junk in the water we headed in, when the old gps takes me north this is when I realized we drifted so far. Anyway 3 miles later we were again back at buoy 2 and my buddy hits the last coho.
Lesson for this one that in the rush to land and net fish one should still pay attention to where they are.
I hope this helps someone, that little garmin etrex that I bought has been the best investment this side of my fishing pole.
Happy hunting.
