This is my first year out and I am still trying to purposely catch a King. I caught 1 - 20 lb'er on the last full weekend of coho season on my diver/dodger/hoochie. Since then, I have been out 4 days and have struck out. We fished 2 days out of Newport, and went to Winchester Bay this last weekend. I obviously need some help. My questions follow:

Is the RockPile the only spot, or are there fish elsewhere, and when do the fish mass in front of Waldport and Newport?

Should I be pulling a herring behind a dodger? Since my hoochie gave me my one and only King, I have subbornly stuck with it.

Do I have to be on the bottom always, or are there spots with chinook holding somewhere other than the bottom?

So many questions, so few fish (for me anyway). Thanks in advance for any help.

Hey Mystic Sea,

Pull alongside the Sea Swan and I'll toss one accross to ya so you can catch it images/icons/shocked.gif images/icons/tongue.gif

Just kidding.

Mooching is the technique of choice for Newport charters.

email me.

Are you going out Friday?
