I'm trying to find a source in the Portland area where I can buy some anchovies, 5-6 ins. in size. Next Sunday I'm going down to fish the Rogue River Bay, and have been asked if I could bring some anchovies down to a friend down there, he tells me that there are no bait of this size to be found in Gold Beach. I would by a case if needed to get these. So can anyone help me out?
Thanks to all for just reading the post.

Did you ever get your anchovies? Since most people are just using herring around these parts, anchovies are not in big demand and can be hard to locate. I'd try calling the coastal bait shops around Astoria, Tillamook and Newport and ask. I know Tackle Time will often flash freeze fresh anchovies on trays to sell later. Scroll down to the reference list for the link to Tackle Time and give them a call, you still have time.
Last spring I fished the Rogue and anchovies were indeed in short supply. Better take your buddies advice and do everything you can to get some good bait before you go.
Good luck and let us know how you do,
Gregg

Try TBC, or just go jig them yourself...
Tillimook Bait Company (http://www.ifish.net/TillamookBait.html)
They even ship images/icons/wink.gif
Good luck.

I found a place to get bait. Chinook Country Store 360/777-bait.
Thanks for the help.
When I get back I will give you a honest report on the fishing at Gold Beach, and also how we do.

I'll be down there as well this Saturday and Sunday with a guide. I'll look for you if your bringing your boat?
Good luck, Hawg images/icons/smile.gif

I was visiting family in California last week and got my anchovies on a pizza! images/icons/grin.gif
I've seen them at Bi-Mart in the freezer, but I don't think they're 5-6 inches.
