I consider myself an expert at losing fish, either a missed hook or at the boat. Well today I decided to do something alittle different.

After going over a rather bumpy bar and a worse ocean this morning (although it calmed down in the late morning) I rigged up my much bashed eagle claw III pole (much bending in this one) with a 6 oz dropper (18" down) and trolling a fresh herring. I loosened my drag all the way up to just before line payed out from trolling and when the coho hit, it took it and started paying out line. One press of the thumb and the fish was hooked. I never lost a fish at the boat as I have done so many times before. Like normal though I did miss some hits.

Caught some real nice natives though, I think the coho are starting to make a comeback, lets hope so.

If one had to they could use a fish flash with this setup because generally a fish flash has very little drag. It has been a good week, I hope everyone else has had a good week on the water.
