Wish I had some information for ya though I don't. I just figured I'd tell ya people don't like to talk about the Siletz much on this board for one reason or another. Good luck though. images/icons/smile.gif

I don't know about the Siletz for Bluebacks after hammering them for 3 months on the Alsea I couldn't raise a strike for love or money....tried all the usual hardware, and some new,,, nothing.... My personal opinion is that they came in early and the 3rd of an inch of rain last week raised the river enough to get them to move upriver....getting ready for the early chinooks on the 11th in the Alsea Bay, almost as many crabbers out there today than seals where are the Orcas when you need them.?

I am down near the Siletz with fly rod trying to get info from the bait shops/sports stores.

No good reports other than "my husband was up near moonshine and they didn't get anything."

From the wife of a guy who owns a tackle shop near Lincoln city.

I may go up and try tomorrow if the back cooperates.

What is a blueback? Are you refering to sockeye salmon or steelhead? I know of one steelhead that was caught in the gorge last week.

A blueback is a searun cutthroat.
As for fishing for them on the Siletz. I would try low in the river. If you have a small boat or canoe, Try the run the second steel bridge to Morgan park. Or from Morgan to Strom. If you do the Strom park run, An electric motor would be a big plus.
I was down on the Siletz about mid August 4 years ago. We put a small drift boat in at morgan park and rowed and drug it to Strom park. We found some blueback and a couple fresh nookers. There is lots of shallow riffles that we had to drg the boat over. And once we found tide water, The tide was running in hard. I wish we had a motor for that trip.
