I'm going camping and fishing around hebo Thursday. Has anyone heard how the steelheading in the rivers is doing around there? what are they hitting? I am open to some trout or bass fishing too. I don't have a boat so I'm on the bank or wading.

Fished the Mouth of Three Rivers today and saw lots of fish a few really light biters pec and run. Using small Bud spinners. Went down river a ways and found two nice fish one my Aunt caught was a rerun fish and the one I caught was a chrome bright and I mean CHROME hen. Only bout 6 lbs but a very nice fish. Still had a few sealice on her. I agree small is better when fishing these fish. Caught these around 11:00 am. The fish are real spooky so watch ahead of you in the shallows and if you see them before they see you they just might hit. Just remember no bait in the Nestuc. images/icons/smile.gif

The mouth of Three Rivers and Farmer Creek are very good for steelhead .....If you go into the wayside turn-around at Farmer Creek and park....walk through the brush and stand just above or in Farmer Creek and cast a vibrax up to the right of the rapids and pull it threw....if they are there..you'll know it! images/icons/shocked.gif Good luck !

Is the drift from farmers down to cloverdale or three rivers do-able or is the water to low? What is a managable level for this float?

You should be able to find some steelhead up around Blaine. Good bank access up there.
Also, there is always fish hanging around at the mouth of Three Rivers this time of year. Getting them to bite is the difficult part.
If you had some kind of small infatable you could float in, it would really open up a lot more opportunities to you.

Right now I would probably stick with Spinners. Keep them small. In Vibraxes go no bigger than size 3 (size 2 would be better). One of my favorite colors if it is bright or overcast out is green body with a black blade. Panther Martin size 6 - black body gold blade. Also bobber and jig is a great option. Stick with natural colored jigs like browns, olives, blacks and whites.
Should be lots of cutthroat in there now also. No bait and catch and release.
If you want trout try Hebo Lake or Tahoe Lake. It might be a little late for Tahoe but might be worth a try.

Jay, I would leave the driftboat at home and take a pontoon boat or raft. You'll be dragging that db more than fishing, not to mention spooking fish at the tops of the holes. Also be ready for a good workout because there isn't any current to take your boat down river. What you could do is put yourself in at Farmer and walk down to 3 Rivers! images/icons/grin.gif There are fish in the river so good luck.
