I recently had a "minor" heart event (a couple of weeks ago) and am wondering what youall on the board have found to be wise in getting back into the hang of things. I usually fish searuns and they can give you a startle. Any experience here? the procedure only involved 1 stent, but it took 10-12 days to begin feeling sort of "normal" again. Of course, Tillamook icecream, cheeseburgers, etc are "OUT OF THERE!" Surely someone on the list has run into this situation or know of a similar one. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. BTW, I only do catch and release with flies. Thanks All! images/icons/confused.gif images/icons/wink.gif

Thank God you are OK, and welcome back to the board.
I don't have any advice, just good wishes.

My dad had three stents put in. Before he had the procedure he could hardly walk out to the mail box. That was back in June 2000. He help pack out my elk the following Nov. The doc's advice to my dad was to do what ever he wanted as long as he felt comfortable doing it. Good luck.

My father recently had a minor heart attack and had a stent put in, but felt good enough to be fighting steelhead and pulling in the anchor on the Columbia 8 weeks later. (no, I didn't make him pull the anchor, that's just the way he is) images/icons/smile.gif

I'd follow whatever directions your Dr gives you and listen to your body.

Good luck!

Its been 1.5 weeks and I already feel much better, but I just pray I dont forget this lesson "Cut out the fat, you jerk!" Ill keep what youall have said in mind. And take things a little slower for awhile. Life is Good!!! images/icons/grin.gif images/icons/rolleyes.gif

deefly,
One important thing to remember: As time goes by the trama of your heart attack will become less important. Don't let this happen and fall back to your old habits. Diet, exercise and control your stress. Remind yourself to stay in control. You have many more fish to catch!

Dee-

I myself haven't had any heart troubles but my dad has been through two open heart surgeries and had a stent put in soon after the second one. He was 40 the first time and didn't listen to the Doc about the fat. 10 years later he **** near died and had another open heart surgery. That was 4 years ago and he has sworn off the bad food and feels better than ever.

He is one tough dude in my opinion but not above the fatty foods. Do yourself and your family a favor ang go fishing more. Not only will you be having a good time, you will also catch some food that is good for you.

The sentence about fishing qualifies as a fish-only topic, right? images/icons/smile.gif
