Newport area bass fishing...

I will be in the Newport Beach area mid-October and looking for a bit of help. I want to fish for bass in between the salmon charter trips and the lulls while staying in this area. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Olalla Lake out of toledo has some huge fish in it. I caught one out of there last year that went over 7.5 pounds off of a black and blue jig

Big Creek reservoir in north Newport, Olalla Lake east of Toledo, Devils Lake in Lincoln city. The only one open for gas motors is Devils Lake. Olalla has a boat launch but no gas motors. Big Creek doesn't have a boat launch. My choice for a shot at a big bass would be Olalla but that's only because I know the lake. Big Creek is a real sleeper with some nice fish. Good luck.

Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately I have no boat and will be hucking from shore with My dad, brother and brother-in-law before his deployment. Just looking for some things to do other than shopping with the ladies in our down time.
