Fished George Rogers Park yesterday
Lost a crankbait, my wife lost a lipless crankbait, a spinnerbait, and 2 texas rigged grubs.:frown:
My friend lost two lipless cranks, each on their first cast.:frown:
I managed to catch one on a craw pattern lipless crank that was about 14" only action for the day.
Anyone else fish this spot? It seems like a good spot but really prone to snagging.

That is actually where I caught my very first smallmouth, and I am pretty sure that was the only thing we caught that day!! From what I remember, we never caught a lot of fish there, but could always caught one or two. Haven't fished it in a couple of years though. I definetly lost many, many cranks to those rocks, don't feel too bad....
Nice work on the fish, too bad it cost you $40.... thats fishing!!

Hate to lose the plugs anymore. That is why I fish plastic.

being on a boat makes it very easy to get your stuff back, the boat alone saves you money

Like I said in the PM I have killed SM with a Bobber and Senkos or Earthworms. I know it is not as elite to use a Bobber but i also havn't lost a plug or spin or crank. I have also had luck there with Storm wild eyed shad swim baits. I saw Taunchau's post about big swim baits for largemouth, the Smallies like the bait fish sized swims as well. I have only been skunked there once. Also have pulled and seen pulled 18" plus SM from that stretch. Here is a pic of an average sized SM I have caught out of there. ya I live about a half a mile up the hill from that stretch of water, my biggest out of there is about a 4.5 pounder, there are some big fish, I have lost even bigger than that.
Something to keep in mind about this stretch is that there is a lot of water, you can go upstream about a half mile, and downstream as far as you want to, don't stay in one spot too long.

You should try those wake baits you bought, if they come off on the cast you can swim out and go get them because they float.

Um, right. Therefore what you must tell your wives is you need a $30K boat to help you retrieve your $25 plugs, so you can "save money" ... ...
There's fisherman logic at it's finest.
A fine addendum would be, catch and eat, to save money on groceries.

lol,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,actually I didnt have to justify buying a boat,, I just wanted one,,and since then ive been able to retreive all my equip. back

That's cool. I didn't have to justify it either. Having half a dozen buddies with boats means I don't need to justify buying one myself. ;) Contributing to the gas bill in my buddy's boat means getting invited again and again. Pretty economical plan.
