Took my wife and a friend bass fishing out of Willamette today. None of us had been above the falls doing any kind of fishing. I think we did alright.:food:

I don't think I would be eating any non migratory fish out of the Willamette. High mercury levels and all. However, you certainly were more productive than I on Monday. Fun.

Nice job on getting the fish. I wouldn't eat anything for the willy exept salmon and steelhead. Also I would alway practice catch and release with bass.

What did you get the cats on? That's interesting. Didn't know there were that many around. Time for a fish fry!

nice to see more than one person caring for your health....... read you fishing regs. they will tell you about the poisons in the waters around here .... its alot more fun to catch these fish over and over,,, C&R is the way to go!!:twocents::twocents:

I definitely agree with the non migratory fish comment. Especially for fish coming out of the Willy!

I wonder what the impact of all these smallies is on Anadromous fish populations.. supposedly minimal but I know these fish are voracious...

I look at it this way. On a typical trip on the Willy in Salem I will catch anywhere from 5 to 15 northern pikeminnow(*********). I kill everyone I catch and either feed it to the birds(Ospey & Eagal) or use it of crab bait (and so do every bassfisherman I know). So maybe the smallies do hurt the Anadromous fish population a little but I think the bassfisherman keep the ********* in check so it all balences out in the end:flowered:.

Well, I have no intention of becoming a human thermometer. We'll likely pass on the feast in the future.

Nevertheless, we had a great time and went home with sore arms from catching so many fish! Many more than you see here. :yay:

Saturday is my 17th Anniversary. Guess what my wife wants to do? Go bass fishing!!!

Congradulations. What fun! ODFW does list several reasons you really should pass on eating those fish. It's in the reg book under advisories I think. Also live bait of any kind (including Minnow's) is an ODFW no no. Not worth a ticket. Now I do'nt want to step on any toes here, make anyone mad or offend you but....... Next time it might be better to release them for next time out. Bass fishin is really a kick and we want to be sure there is enough for all including yourself. Great pics though.
