Took my 5 year old daughter and a buddy out, fished the pilings near Wallace marine park and did not catch a single fish. Lot's of grass/weeds drifting in the water made for tough fishing. I need some help, The Crease where are you?

The water is still a bit to low for fishing those pilings. Do you need a spot from shore, or from a boat?

I would stay out of the slough right now and look for current. Try to find the eddies.
GO underneath the bridge if you are fishing from the bank and throw a craw colored speed trap or a senko along the rock banks. I should clarify under the bridge by Felony flats not the side where the boat ramp is.
The boat ramp can be good, fish to right of it as you face the water you will see a snag there and there is a hole that holds some nice fish. I like to throw a spider grub in that spot.
If you are in a boat then there are plenty of place to pick from but be carefull the river is very low.
Good luck

I should have clarified, I did not mean the pilings, but the bridge supports in the main channel. I do have a boat, but was told since I have a prop, the river is too low to travel to my usual spot up towards Independence. I will try the rocks, and the snag you described The Crease, and tell you how I did. Thanks for the info.

I still run the river with my boat and it is a prop.
By the way do you need any props? They are only missing one or two blades.:D

Did you go in the evening or in the morning. I know that is an odd question but last week was fishing the Willy in Salem in the afternoon and ended with 20+ and a great day. The next day I took a friend out first thing and in 3 hours we landed only 1 bass and 1 pike minnow. We hit the water in Salem again that afternoon and landed 27 bass in under 4 hours. I think that all of the boat traffic mucks the water a little and the bass are less cautious. I faired pretty well heading up to the small slough on the right and drifting down the rock bank. Too much grass for a crank but did exceptional on a white spinnerbait with a double tailed trailer. Good luck.

For some reason 2 oclock and after has always been good for me and I dont usually fish where there are any skiers. The morning bite more streaky however.
