Do I need to insulate my little chief if the temp is in the 60's?

60's...probably not. I would just because. Not that you HAVE to. It would just cut down on smoking time. In the 50's...yes!

I always just put the box (that the little chief came in) right over the top of the smoker for a little insulation while it was smoking. Worked for me for 5+ years.

That is what I use as well. I had it in for 6 hours without then the last 1 and a half hours with the box on. It was some of the best that I have done.

Box on. Makes all the difference!

I use Reflectix insulation from Lowes or Home Depot.

Its basically bubble wrap inside aluminum foil.

It works great.
