I am going into Marion on Saturday/Sunday. I will post how I do bank fishing. I will not be able to bring along my rubber raft, images/icons/frown.gif images/icons/frown.gif because I will have to carry enough gear, sleeping bags, tent, milk, diapers, crib, images/icons/rolleyes.gif kitchen sink etc for my 1 and 4 year old. I got a feeling the packframe is gonna be heavy for an overnight trip.
But it will be fun, one way or another. images/icons/grin.gif
All my trips to Pamelia in the past only produced dumbbell trout (big heads and little bodies). A product of to many fish and not enough feed.

Freshly back from the lower end of the 8 lakes basin. images/icons/smile.gif God I love the silence of primitive areas.
Got a slightly late start saturday. Didnt leave the trail head into Marion Lake until about 11. What my wife and myself use to do in 1 hour took 3 hours with a 1 and 4 year old. No rock or stick along the trail was not either kicked, thrown or inspected by my son. I was concerned about the amount of food we took for the night. A 3.5 mile hike with 75 a pound pack tends to work up an appetite. images/icons/rolleyes.gif We met several people on the way out who got rained on that morning and were wet, and cold and miseable. They all said fishing was very poor unless you had a boat. images/icons/frown.gif After about an hour of fishing I was starting to believe them. Usually a worm is all it takes to get a nice stringer of fish in a hurry. I started playing around with green label pauskes (sp) single eggs, nadda ..... Then I went to a Mikes cheese bait single egg and a piece of worm, bammo fish on. I didnt have any single egg hooks with me. The fish would not touch them on a worm hook alone. But when I put on a couple inches of worm and then a single egg on the tip, it was a bite in less than a minute usually. Once they stole the egg, they wouldnt stick around and eat the worm. It took about an hour to get 10 fish on a stringer once I got dialed on what they wanted. What a nice dinner we had. This morning I pulled 5 fish out of the lake in about an hour, and easily lost more than that. I had a good breakfast also. images/icons/smile.gif
Just as we were packing up camp around noon, it started raining on us. What a misearable walk out of the lake. We were totally drenched and it took 2 hours coming out downhill.
The lake has a huge bloom going on right now. It is amazing how much suspended algae is in the water.
I wish I could have stayed longer. Usually I get more rainbows that brook trouts out of the lake. All fish were brooks this trip. images/icons/confused.gif
