Anyone hear what ODFW decided about the closure today is it officially Aug 1 ?

Let's see......sturgeon closes Aug. 1, and salmon opens that same day??? That sounds like it's a regulation based on scientific analysis to me!! images/icons/wink.gif

Yes, I called the Washinton Department of Fish and they said it closes August 1st and will be closed thru September 30th.

I actually posted this over a week ago (after I found out through Butch Smith at Coho Charters) and hardly anyone believed me because ODFW claimed they were having a public meeting to discuss it. From what it sounds like to me, ODFW and WDFW made up their mind that the season would close on Aug. 1 and then during a discreet meeting, told a select few with a financial interest in the fishery (Coho charters had 27 trips booked in August) and then scheduled the public meeting even though there wasn't a snowball's chance in you know what that the season would remain open. I'm never going to attend one of these "public meetings" if they are of no consequence.
