When doing a drift, often you'll have to hitch a ride to get back to your rig.
What is your favorite, "Pick me up, I'm an innocent fisherperson" trick?
I know someone who carries a gas can, and danged if it doesn't work almost ALL the time.
One time a guy insisted on even filling it up for him! Tee hee!
I feel like if you are carrying a rod, or wearing hip boots, your chances of getting picked up are alot better.
Or... Carry a gas can!

From what I have heard, the smart fisherman simply invites Row For Fish along. This little guy just sprints back up the riverbank or back up the road to get the truck. He can fish with me anytime.

On "hard to hitch" rivers, I have employed a technique I call "decoying". I park on the road (I feel it is safer in remote places than the boatramp), lift my hood, and check my oil when I hear a vehicle coming. To date, I have never had more than 2 rigs go by before I got my ride. When they ask what's wrong with the vehicle I just tell'em "nothin', just checking the fluid levels. Thanks for the ride though!" The old standby lifejacket or fishing pole doesn't hold a candle to decoying. The gas can sounds good, but they might want to take you to a gas station instead of the next boatramp up.

It's been a long day on the river. RT and Stew get creative seeking a ride back to their rig! images/icons/grin.gif images/icons/grin.gif

Hmmm...no reaction. This must be true and they have tried it before. LOL!

I remember once upon a time walking down I-5 wearing neoprene waders AND carrying a gas can and nobody offered me a ride. images/icons/frown.gif
"Oh don't worry, we can make it to Medford and back if we had to, no problem......right"
There are some lessons that only have to be learned once.
