Can anyone tell me about Mission Lake? I've never fished there but I want to give it a whirl, also how do you get there?
Thanks!

Welcome to ifish fishsmoker. How about an into story(you best fishing story)
I know of at least two Mission Lakes. Where is the one that you are wanting to know about?
My fish story, back in the mid 70s I bought my dad one of the Ronco sure sets(it is a bobber that is supposed to set the hook when a fish bites) we went to a lake down past Florence to do a little lip rippin! We get the boat in the water and dad is chompin at the bit to try out his fathers day present, we get to the glory hole and he gets all rigged up, throws his line out and the sureset hits the water with a mighty crash and the hook sets, he drags it back in plays with it a little more and with a big hopeful smile on his face throws it out again, Sploosh same result, reels it in again cussing this wonderful fathers day gift that I bought him. He gets it back in the boat again and says I guess I better read the instructions, after studing the instructions for 10 minutes and after I have landed my 2nd trout he has it figured out! He whips it out there like he was Ron Popiel himself, picture perfect cast, the sure set was ready for action. About 10 minutes go by and there is action on the sure set, the bobber was under but the sure set didn't set, pops reels her back in, still more cussing, I said I'll go ahead and catch that fish you missed while you go ahead and do some more reading! I thew my line over where he had that beautiful bite and it sat for about a minute and my old fashion bobber went down and I set the hook, I landed a 17 1/2" rainbow! Dad says you know I think its time to go home.
The Mission lake is in a state park over by Salem, I did find it online but does anybody have suggestions, bait, tackle, what to fish for? I'm not taking the sure set!
Thanks! Fishsmoker
This time of year the lake is generally covered in spot/granular algae. I'll post a pic when I find it. I seldom fish it anymore, but when I did I fished for bluegill with worm and/or jig under a bobber. Used to catch some bass with rubber worms along the shorlines or crank baits early in the season.
