Wife and I are heading to the Worldmart propety (trendwest) at Depoe bay. I haven't spent much time there. So can anyone tell me what fishing opportunities are in that area starting Saturday 7/28. Will be there for a week. Tell me what you like to do in that area...
Thanks...Giz...

Just took an 8 hour bottom fishing trip with Tradewinds Charters. He ran us up to Pacific City and we limited the boat in about 2 hours. Lots of BIG bass.

I watched the gray whales heading north just 200 yards off shore this afternoon. Maybe a krill fly on a number 800 fly rod?

Gizmo,

Search the WorldMark Discussion Board for info on local activities that the regular visitors like. Start at www.worldmarktheclub.com (http://www.worldmarktheclub.com) .

For fishing, there is bottom fish, tuna is hot at the moment, there will be Halibut fishing on Aug 3/4, and you could go north to Garibaldi to fish for both Coho and King Salmon.

If you bring a jetty rod, you could fish off the jetty in Newport, fish off the rocks in Depoe Bay or North of Depoe Bay, or fish at the mouth of the Siletz in Lincoln City. Look up the local tackle shops and they will give you info on bait and where to go. Plastic worms (black or purple) and grubs are the general lure used, as well as shrimp flies and red feather maribou jigs.

If you want to get a tuna or halibut charter, I would get it lined up fast. Both are about $175 and fill up fast. Call the Depoe Bay or Newport Chamber of Commerce for phone numbers of the Charters. Some of the charters may also be doing Chinook only trips around Depoe Bay and Newport.
