Hey ifishers, head for the coast. Just got home from a week at Ft. Canby. Wednesday sturgeon above the Astoria bridge keepers for everyone. Thursday went out to the ocean to try our luck on silvers, 4 miles out due west of the north head lighthouse. 12 fish hooked 9 landed one released in 45 minutes, we limited and headed back. Sturgeon are hitting herring and anchovies. Salmon we used the small deep six divers with a medium size dodger about 6" behind the diver 5' mooching rig with herring make them spin tight, 20 pulls out and fish on. The patern we hit was, we would begin marking bait fish on the surface then salmon right behind them about 5 to 15 feet down as soon as the salmon cleared the fish finder our gear was in them and fish on. You got to get out there, its more fun than the trout opener with power bait. Good luck and tight lines.

Glad to hear you had a great time! We went out of Ilwaco this morning, had fun, but certainly did not have the fishing luck you did. Dropped our crab traps behind Baker Island, went out to the CR bouy to fish. Three keepers, 10 or 11 natives released and more fish lost than we could count. One of the keepers was a "nook". Fished until the high slack, pulled our crab traps, only one keeper. Soo, you must have had all the fishing luck earlier in the week. images/icons/frown.gif

I fished Sunday too! But like the previous post the fish were tough to find. We fished the CR with little success. Pick up two there. Moved south and trolled in a circular fashion trying to cover some territory. Ended up with four more in the boat. Two of the Silvers were small 4 to 5 lbs. The others were 7 to 9 and we had one that was 13lbs. All the fish were very hot on the fight!

We caught a lot of natives too. Somewhere around 6 or so. By the way. We did not cross the bar until 9:15 and fished till 3:30. Kind of a tough day. Oh yeah, We saw the cops too but they did not board us.
